This is how forceful the Belgian paleoclimatologist Valerie Trouet, author of the book Written in the trees: the history of the world told in rings (Criticism), during the Hay Festival in Segovia. Trouet advocated filling cities with trees to improve the quality of life of their inhabitants, raise awareness or lower the temperature. But he warned that the climate crisis requires drastic and urgent action and concluded that there is no way it can be remedied by planting trees. It’s too late for that.
