The Atlanta Braves star outfielder, Ronald Acuña Jr., remained out of his team’s lineup this Sunday for the second consecutive day in what was the third game of the series that ended 16-2 with a new beating by the Miami Marlins.

Acuña Jr. had left Friday’s match, the first of the day where Atlanta also lost 9-6, after hitting a weak hug for third base.

The measure was taken as a precaution due to tightness in the right calf muscle. However, on Saturday, where Atlanta fell again, the Venezuelan was not lined up and took a rest.

As of this Sunday, he remained off the roster, although according to reports, he is being taken day by day to prevent the injury from becoming a problem in the future.

Some specialized journalists have revealed that Acuña Jr. feels much better from the pain, but that the Braves medical staff prefers not to risk him due to the conditions of the synthetic grass at Miami’s LoanDepot Park.

It is expected that before the start of the series against the Philadelphia Phillies at Trust Park in Atlanta he will be reevaluated in order to determine if he deserves more rest or if he will be able to continue in action.

The absence of Ronald Acuña Jr. comes in full competition with Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts for the National League Most Valuable Player award.

All thanks to the numbers he has accumulated throughout the season, averaging .337, with 201 hits, 37 home runs, 66 stolen bases and an OPS of 1.004.
