A Hispanic teenager from Texas who was reported missing and the subject of an AMBER Alert last week has been located and faces murder charges. along with the man initially believed to have kidnapped her, who remains at large, authorities said.
Natalie Navarro, 17, was found safe in Webb County early Friday morning and taken into custody by the Garland Police Department (GPD).
Initially, Navarro was the subject of an AMBER alert that was issued by the Dallas Police Department early Friday morning, cWhen she was reported missing at an apartment complex, KXAS reported.
She is expected to be charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of 21-year-old Arturo Pena, who was found dead in a vehicle in Audubon Park Tuesday morning.
Pena, of Mesquite, had been reported missing to the Dallas Police Department two days earlier.. According to Lieutenant Richard Maldonado, of the GPD, the possible connection between PeƱa, Navarro and the fugitive suspect, Yordy MartĆnez, 21, is being investigated in statements collected by FOX4.
Martinez, who has a criminal record for firing a gun at a home last year, was linked to the possible kidnapping of Navarro. when she was last seen in an apartment complex in Far East Dallas.
Police believe Martinez may be traveling in a gray four-door vehicle and is missing a front tooth. Authorities consider him armed and dangerousKXAS noted.
PeƱa’s family fears that MartĆnez has fled to Mexico. As of Sunday morning, a PeƱa memorial GoFundMe started by his wife, Verónica López, had raised more than $2,600, with a goal of $25,000.
