Recently the specialized magazine ‘Architectural Digest’ spoke to Gerwig about the Barbie universe and his magical house, which he created together with an enviable team. First of all, it must be said that those in charge were the production designer Sarah Greenwood and the set decorator Katie Spencer, the same team that was in charge of the ‘Pride and Prejudice’ and ‘Anna Karenina’ sets.

Gerwig wanted that the houses of his Barbie universe did not have four wallsFor her there is nothing to hide. It’s also a great reference to the houses that all the girls of a generation had.

But another thing to take into account were the Barbie toy houses, the ones that everyone or almost everyone knows, since the two designers had never had one and they had to ask for it on Amazon. With that managed to understand the proportions and what a Barbie would actually look like inside of her. Gerwig clarifies: “I didn’t want to forget what made me love Barbie.”

The entire installation of this recording set was made on a batch at Warner Bros. Studios UKjust outside London.
