Grayson Waller was not happy after not being taken until very late in the WWE Draft 2023.

In this year’s WWE Draft, more than a dozen NXT superstars were selected to go to the main roster. One of them was Grayson Waller, who was chosen during RAW Talk once all the rounds that were broadcast on television had finished, so Waller was at the bottom of the list.

In an interview with Fox Sports, Grayson Waller acknowledged that it was frustrating to see how he watched the shows of SmackDown and RAW sitting next to the rest of the NXT superstars while other people were chosen and he was not, despite the fact that he was expressly asked to be there.

I’m not going to lie, it was tough. Friday night I was sitting for four or five hours, or whatever. I saw name after name and Grayson Waller’s name was not chosen. Not all were there. Not everyone was there. They asked me to be there. So he expected to be chosen. When I wasn’t, I felt frustrated. And I had to sit that whole weekend and think about how bad I felt.

Then I got up that Monday and the same thing happened. I watch the whole episode of Raw and I hear the names being chosen, and there are some very talented people in NXT who have been selected, but I am Grayson Waller. I am the number one person here. My name must be chosen on television.

So I was frustrated, and I really thought I was going to sit there for two nights and not get picked – and I thought about Tom Brady, and I thought about that, if you watch the documentary, The Brady Six about the six quarterbacks who got drafted before Tom – and I know every single person recruited before me. I know every single person in NXT that was picked before me.

It’s very important to note that some parts of Grayson Waller’s statements are in-character. This Friday, on SmackDown, he will make his first appearance before the arena crowd hosting the first edition of ‘The Grayson Waller Effect’ on the main roster.
