The German basketball team was the champion of the 2023 Basketball World Cup in Indonesia, the Philippines and Japan this Sunday after beating its counterpart from Serbia in the final by a score of 83-77.
The Bavarians were proclaimed champions for the first time in their history after a close game that was decided in the last quarter, after an overwhelming third quarter for the Serbians where the score was already 22-10, with Dennis Schroeder on fire.
In fact, it was Schroeder himself (28 points) who sealed the game with a basket to make it 81-77.
In this way, the German team became the successor to the throne that Spain had ruled for two World Cups and, as the Spanish team did in China 2019, the Germans lifted the title without losing a single game during the tournament.
On the other hand, Serbia lost its second final as an independent country after a more than complete World Cup, while Canada took the bronze after beating the United States 127-118 in the match for third and fourth place.
