Today Corazón Akira and Zero have been very lucky to cross paths with Francine. Did you save them from a bad fate?
Francine Gálvez Yes. They were about to exterminate them and my partner and I felt very sorry for them and we stayed with them. People are very irresponsible, they do not sterilize the females and when they have many puppies they kill them. I had no idea and you have to think that they are living beings…
HC Are they both from the same litter?
FG They are brothers and they are two years old. I had never had cats, I always had the impression that they were more restless, independent… When I was little we only had birds, hamsters… We are four siblings and for my parents it was more than enough.
HC How was that first cat experience?
FG It was very easy. According to what the veterinarian told me, the behavior of the pets has changed. They have done it to adapt to living with human beings. Felines have changed a lot.
HC Do you mean that you are one more in the family?
FG I have understood what many people say: my pets are like my children… A magical relationship is created and in the end it is true that they become another member of the family. It has been beautiful.
HC Do you notice the blood ties that Akira and Zero have?
FG Akira is smaller in size, but she is the leader. She provokes him a lot and pushes him on, that’s what I did when I was little with my brothers.
HC What is the daily life of your cats like?
FG Zero is active during the day, affectionate, his sister is more independent and doesn’t need you, although they both look more like dogs than cats. When I get home, they come out to greet me and explain things to me in their language: “meow, meow, meow…”.
HC They are very small, but cats almost always try to escape. Have they given you any displeasure?
FG One night they ran away and they must not have liked it very much because they didn’t try again. He left the door open for them and they didn’t leave. They are both very homely.
HC Francine, in what professional phase are you?
FG I have been in this profession for 30 years and I am in the midst of the creation phase. I have a small production company—PromusicTV Audiovisual—and I am also collaborating with Inés Ballester on the program Esta Pasando, Telemadrid.
