A Florida high school teacher is charged with allowing and organizing fights between her students in her classroom during school hours.
The woman contributed “to the delinquency of a minor,” according to court documents obtained by the local medium WCTVfor having a role in said fights at Griffin High School in Tallahassee.
The documents indicate, according to the outlet, that a school resources deputy was alerted on March 24 that students were allowed to fight in 23-year-old Angel Footman’s classroom.
Supposedly, school administrators were also shown videos showing images of the fights that took place between March 22 and 23.
According to the local outlet, several sixth grade girls told detectives that they were involved in planned fights during school hours and allege they were invited into additional fights. They also reported Footman making comments such as: “30 seconds, no yelling, no yelling, no phones.”
A detective reviewed the videos and identified Footman sitting at her desk., without intervening and making statements that included “stop pulling the hair”. The document also said no record was found of the teacher reporting the fights to administrators.
According to court documents obtained by WCTV, the students said they planned their fights to take place in the room where Footman taught, and that sometimes rematches were encouraged.
Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office online records indicate Footman was booked there Friday, according to The New York Post.
According to online court records, the arraignment is scheduled for May 4.
