Fito Páez, the influential Argentine singer-songwriter and musician, will perform at the Zócalo as part of his cultural agenda. Considered one of the most important figures of rock in Spanish, the musician has a career spanning more than four decades, during which he has published more than two dozen albums, including the acclaimed Love after love (1992) and Beat Circusand is now preparing to delight the Mexican public with his greatest hits.
Martí Batres, Head of Government, made the announcement at a press conference, adding that the composer’s presentation will be part of the tour Love after lovean album that is 22 years old and that was re-recorded last year with a list of special guests that includes Mon Laferte, Chico Buarque, Elvis Costello, Nathy Peluso, among others. This new version was released under the name EADDA9223.
When and at what time is Fito Páez’s concert at the Zócalo in Mexico City?
The capital government announced that Fito Páez’s concert will take place on Saturday, September 7, starting at 8:00 p.m. Although in other concerts at the Zócalo the artists have received guests on the stage located in front of the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Argentine has not made any announcements about special acts. As in other mass events in Mexico City, admission will be free and can be accessed through two filters located on Pino Suárez and 20 de Noviembre avenues. The closest metro stations are Isabel la Católica (Line 1) and Pino Suárez (Lines 1 and 2).
Residents and visitors of Mexico City will not have to wait long for another concert, as it was previously announced that on Saturday, September 15, Banda MS will perform along with other bands from the state of Oaxaca and mariachis, to celebrate the nation’s Independence.
Allowed and prohibited objects
The Mexico City Ministry of the Interior requests that alcoholic beverages, glass containers, chairs, large objects, coolers, aerosols, drones and fireworks not be brought into the Zócalo. It is recommended that you wear comfortable clothing, tennis shoes and sunscreen.
The weather forecast predicts that there will be thunderstorms in the afternoon, so it is recommended that attendees bring raincoats or other clothing to protect them from the rain.
Fito Paez, the artist
Fito Páez was born on March 13, 1963 in Rosario, Argentina. His career took off in the 1980s, and he has been a prominent figure in the Latin American music scene ever since. His sound is a combination of rock, pop, and elements of tango and traditional Argentine music. Behind the music, the composer integrates poetic and emotional lyrics, which has resulted in major hits such as Technicolor butterfly, On the side of the road, Let’s roll my life, It’s raining on wet ground and others that the Mexican audience could enjoy during their concert.
The Argentine has received 11 Latin Grammy Awards and won his first Grammy in 2021 for his album The conquest of spacereleased by Sony Music and recorded at Capitol Studios, in Hollywood, California.
