The sports director of Chivas de Guadalajara, the Spanish Fernando Hierro, assured this Monday at a press conference that There is no crisis within the club environment after they were beaten 4-0 in the Classic against América last weekend.
For Hierro, Chivas is united and believes that all the objectives set in the short and long term will be achieved but only if they remain united as a team.
“Whatever we are going to achieve, we are going to achieve as a team because we are more than individual players. We are a collective“said the former Real Madrid footballer.
However, despite not using the word crisis to describe the team’s current situation, he did assure that they are not at their sporting peak.
“We are not in our best moment, but I know what the word crisis is and I know what comes after the crisis; two months ago we played a final“he added.
After starting with four wins in its first five games, Chivas has three consecutive defeats in the Apertura and appears in sixth place with 13 points, three less than the leader San Luis.
“We started the league with three victories and it may be that there was a before and after of the Leagues Cup, a competition that we were excited about and that (the elimination) hurt us. As athletes we cannot doubt for a second, but until the Leagues Cup we were perfect,” he expressed.
Finally Hierro confirmed coach Veljko Paunovic, ensuring that he has full support from the board. and therefore can work calmly.
“The coach knows from his president and his sports director that he can work calmly,” he concluded.
Next Saturday Chivas will host Pachuca, fifteenth in the standings, on the ninth day of the Apertura.
