Favio Posca He stopped by La noche perfecta, Sebastián Wainraich’s interview program, and recalled one of the most famous lines in national cinema. An off-script occurrence that he had towards the end of the filming of Apariencias, a romantic comedy by Adrian Suar with Andrea del Boca, which premiered in 2000.
We talk about “I have vertigo in my tail”the iconic phrase that people still repeat to Posca with laughter when they meet him on the street. Amused, the actor told how it came about: “I invented it with Chueco, that occurred to me one morning when we were finishing filming.”
Posca, who admits to being obsessed with his work, said that he had woken up that day with the idea of adding something more to his character, something extra so that he would not go unnoticed in Suar’s film. “I thought he wasn’t worth anything, he was a minor character, a friend of Andrea del Boca…”.
“I told myself, ‘I have to do something creative that is good and that explodes…’”Favio recounted. Then, suddenly, “the” phrase appeared. This is how he recounted it: “I had to confess something to him, but what was I going to say? ‘I love you?’… It was all very flat and at one point I said to myself ‘I feel dizzy in my butt’ and it ended up being an iconic phrase in national cinema.”
THE PHRASE BY FAVIO POSCA THAT WAS RECORDED IN ARGENTINE POPULAR CULTURE
The truth is that few people remember the plot of Apariencias, the film that revolved around the shy character of Suar and his attempts to win over the character played by Andrea del Boca. And yet, everyone recognizes one of the few lines of Favio Posca in that scene with Rita Cortese and Fernando Siro.
Favio played “Iñaqui,” a friend of Carmelo (Suar) who showed up at his parents’ house and told them: “I’ll tell you one thing… Carmelo is incredible. He made me realize that I’m gay, just like him, and that I’ve always had vertigo in my butt.”
