The day of the event, as she recalls, she met a friend of hers who immediately noticed something different in her face.
As Rivera explained, the friend in question told her: “You have a turned mouth and a dull eye.” But Maripily did not pay much attention to her friend’s words. Furthermore, according to this, the reason for these changes could be due to an aesthetic process to which she had previously undergone. For this reason, she limited herself to telling him: “Oh baby, yes, that was when I injected my lips, that’s part of it.”
During the conversation, the friend made her see that the best thing Rivera could do was visit her doctor and ask for a check-up, to prevent any health problem, since she did not believe that the changes in her face, specifically in her smile, They went for some beauty treatment.
Maripily told this whole anecdote in conversation with Verónica Bastos, for the Telemundo program “La Mesa Caliente” and there she confirmed that she visited her doctor and that he told her: “Mari, are you alright? Because I think you got a ‘stroke’ (brain spill in English)”.
At the doctor’s words, she underwent all the required tests and from there everything made more sense. With results in hand, all suspicions were confirmed. “I did have a stroke, but it was mild,” Rivera told Bastos.
In this interview, he explains that he does not know when everything happened, because he did not feel anything. He says that one day he just woke up and already had a crooked smile.
