the norwegian Erling Haaland was the main figure in the victory of the Manchester City 1-4 against Southampton after scoring a double with which he reached 30 goals in the Premier League, surpassing the 29 accumulated by all of Chelsea. In addition, the victory allows the team led by the Spanish Pep Guardiola to stay five points behind the leader, Arsenal.
The Belgian Kevin De Bruyne was in charge of dodging the ball in the rival area so that Haaland took advantage of his height and ended up defining seconds before Southampton left with the feeling of going to rest without conceding goals.
At 58′, the British Jack Grealish increased the advantage for the home team. The play began with a pass from Haaland in the midfield and later the number 10 made a run to finish off the goal strongly, although the ball went in after the goalkeeper blocked and left the rebound.
Haaland scored his second goal of the night at 68′ and the icing on the cake was scored by the Argentine Enzo Fernández, at 75′.
With the 30 goals scored, El Androide surpasses its closest competitor by six units, Harry Kane of the Tottenham.
The citizen team will return to the ring on Saturday, March 15, the date on which they will receive Leicester City at the Etihad Stadium, but before that they will have to fulfill obligations at home with Bayern Munich next Tuesday for the first leg of the quarterfinals in the UEFA champions league.
