The more accessible it is to the average audience, the bigger the hit the movie is… should we give value or not… Now that we can watch movies in the palm of our hands, the movies that reach the audience are successful? Are the films that can bring people to the theaters successful? Dil Raju’s comments seem to have fueled this discussion which has already begun.
We are the ones who have spoiled the audience….people are not coming to the theaters due to the release of films in OTTs in four weeks….this is Dil Raju’s opinion. Whether it’s a visual wonder that has got the most amazing movie… or it’s a favorite hero movie… the audience wants to go to the theatres. There is a growing tendency to watch any film that has a flop talk on day one in OTTs.
We don’t have the condition to sustain even super duper hit movies in theaters for long days. As the digital deals are already running out, the makers are bringing them into OTTs accordingly. If it is becoming difficult to sustain hit films without getting into OTTs quickly, there is a talk that it is futile to mention about flop films.
Are OTTs dealing in neighboring industries as we have? If the theater system is to improve and continue for a few generations… the producers should sit down and talk with the OTT companies.
There is no situation for producers to give up OTTs which are providing some financial assurance. In that case, the analyst’s advice is to take a look at how the Tamil and Malayalam industries are dealing with these matters.
