The Spanish Dani Carvajal defended the “presumption of innocence” of Luis Rubiales, suspended president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), in the case of the kiss he gave to the soccer player Jenni Hermoso at the women’s World Cup award ceremony.
“The opinion I have of Rubiales personally, as a player and president, has always been excellent professional treatment with me. As a player, everything that has been able to help us in terms of championships, families, trips, has been exceptional. I am not the one to clean, make or break within the Federation. I speak for what I have and as a player I can’t put any fault with it, ”said Carvajal at a press conference collected by EFE.
However, Carvajal defended that he never said that “Jenni is not the victim, I am just saying that the presumption of innocence of all people must be preserved. I have not classified anyone as a victim. If she is having a bad time, you have to show solidarity with her like with anyone else. Nor do I think that the president is currently living pleasant moments. I am not here to judge anyone.”
“I defend the presumption of innocence in this country, which is a constitutional right of all people. No one can be victimized or blamed until there is a final sentence,” insisted Carvajal.
Carvajal expressed his point of view in response to criticism that the statement made by the players of the men’s team was considered late or lukewarm. He made it clear that all the players were “satisfied” with his performance.
