Coors Brewing Company is celebrating 150 years since it began brewing in Golden, Colorado. As part of the festivities, the brewery will give away $150,000 through a raffle.
The company has a year-long Start Your Legacy celebration campaign that culminates in a huge anniversary party in Golden, Colorado in September. Included is a 150th limited edition commemorative pack available throughout the United States.
As a way to celebrate the legacy of Coors Banquet, which began in 1873, the brewer plans to help other businesses create their own legacy. A total of $150,000 will be donated through the first-ever Coors Banquet Legacy Fund “to entrepreneurial small businesses pursuing their own lasting legacies.”
The brewery will also help award-winning business owners and their patrons celebrate with beer.
“We found that only about 50% of crowdfunding projects actually reach their funding goal, and that’s a huge legacy that never got a chance to start,” said Marcelo Pascoa, vice president of marketing for the Coors family of brands. .

Coors started a century and a half ago, the brewer notes that its production was originally for Colorado gold and silver miners to enjoy after a hard day’s work. Since then, “Coors Banquet has been a part of history and popular culture.”
In its history, the company recounts that the iconic Coors Banquet bottle was even smuggled across the country before it became available east of the Mississippi in 1981.
The makers of Coors Banquet assume it’s a familiar drink among rock stars, actors, cowboys, and presidents. He claims that Golden beer is still brewed with 100% Rocky Mountain water.
