Conxita Casanovas (Barcelona, ​​1962), one of the most experienced voices on film information on RNE, is the winner of the 2024 National Cultural Journalism Award, according to The Ministry of Culture announced this Thursday, the entity that grants the award with 30,000 euros. The jury, made up of personalities from the world of culture and journalism, has argued its decision on “its tireless enthusiasm and continued attention, from public radio, to the world of cinema.”

“His very personal prescribing style, his support for professionals in the sector and his ability to transmit the love and passion for cinema to several generations of viewers,” highlighted the decision of the jury, chaired by María José Gálvez Salvador, general director of the Book , Comics and Reading from the Ministry of Culture. Casanovas is a journalist and film critic, graduated in Information Sciences from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and has spent her entire career at RNE, where she has been dedicated to film information for more than 40 years and has directed and presented since 1992 the program Going to the movies. Throughout his career he has interviewed some of the most important names in Spanish cinematography, such as Penélope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Antonio Banderas, Pedro Almodóvar and Fernando Trueba. The latter gave him a small role as a journalist in The queen of Spain (2016).

Since 2004 she has been RNE’s special envoy to cover film festivals such as Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Sitges and San Sebastián or galas such as the Oscars, on four occasions, or the European Film Awards. She has been the director of the Barcelona Film Fest for six years. She has received recognitions such as the Alfonso Sánchez Award from the Film Academy, the Award from the Association of Professional Actors and Directors of Catalonia for the best communicator, and the Knighthood of the Order of Arts and Letters of France in 2023.

In previous editions, the National Prize for Cultural Journalism, which has been awarded since 2009, has gone to names such as Jacinto Antón (first winner), Jesús Marchamalo, Lluís Permanyer, Guillermo Busutil, BlancaBerasátegui, Anxo Quintela or Ana Romaní. Spanish people whose activity is dedicated to cultural information are eligible for the award, regardless of the language or languages ​​of the State.
