The driver of the Red Bull team in Formula 1, Sergio “Checo” Pérez, spoke this Wednesday on what could be his retirement date from the highest category of motorsportalthough the estimated date will not be in the short term.
In an interview for Granvita, Checo Pérez said that he still has a lot to prove in Formula 1 but that at least until he is 36 he sees himself competing at the highest level.
“I want to continue, maybe at least until 2026 when the rules change and experience how much I can enjoy [de los cambios]and from there decide what to do with my future”, said the Mexican.
Complementing the opinion about his future, Checo Pérez also mentioned that although he plans to continue until 2026, he already has in mind that in the middle of the 2024 season he will begin planning his farewell.
“I think that in the first ten races I want to think about what my future will be, and I have no doubt that it will not be my last contract in Formula 1,” he added.
Finally Checo Pérez spoke about what his goal will be in order to finish the 2023 season and the following year, aiming for the championship in 2024.
