Chaos at the PGA Championship, the second major of the golf season, held at the Valhalla course in Kentucky. The second day has been delayed more than an hour due to the death of a person when he was hit by a bus around five in the morning, local time, in the vicinity of the field. The tragedy has caused a large traffic delay just when the players and organization staff were trying to access the facilities for the start of the day, scheduled at 7:15 (Spanish David Puig left at 7:20).

In the midst of the confusion, the world number one and winner of the last Masters, the American Scottie Scheffler, has skipped a police checkpoint and has been handcuffed and detained by the agents. According to ESPN, Scheffler has been released and was already heading to the field for the start of his round. However, he faces charges of assault on an officer, reckless driving and ignoring traffic signals from an officer directing traffic.

Added to this unusual chaos is the rain that is falling this Friday, which could cause more delays. After the first round, the leader is Xander Schauffele with -9, nine birdies and no stain, three strokes ahead of Tony Finau and Sahith Theegala, four over Rory McIlroy and five over Scheffler. Schauffele’s 62 shots (on a par 71) are a historical record for the tournament, surpassing José María Olazabal’s mark from 10 years ago, precisely in the same setting. And the lowest score in the history of the majors, equaling the record of Branden Grace in the 2017 British Open and Rickie Fowler and Schauffele himself in the US Open last year (the three signed -8 in a par 70) .
