Carlos Sainz has been diagnosed with appendicitis, will have to undergo surgery and will thus miss the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix this weekend, as reported by Ferrari in a message posted on social networks. The young F2 driver Oliver Bearman will take the Madrid native’s place in qualifying this Friday and in the race on Saturday.
Carlos Sainz has been diagnosed with appendicitis and will require surgery.
As from FP3 and for the rest of this weekend, he will be replaced by reserve driver Oliver Bearman. Oliver will therefore take no further part in this round of the F2 Championship.

Sainz had had a promising start to the season, after finishing third in the Bahrain Grand Prix, ahead of Charles Leclerc, his workshop mate, and only behind the two Red Bulls. “I felt strong,” the Ferrari driver confirmed the good feelings at the end of the race last week. A start that has now been slowed, in what will be his last season with the Italian team.
