Last year the Oscar Awards gala featured Will Smith. The actor was responsible for one of the most awkward moments because he got up from his seat, in the first row of the dolby theater from Los Angeles and slapped Chris Rock to defend his wife Jada Pinkett after a comment that the comedian made about his physical appearance.
“Jada, I love you. I can’t wait to see ‘Lieutenant O’Neil 2,'” Rock said sarcastically. Smith upon hearing those words showed his angergot up, slapped her face and returning to her seat said, “Keep my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth.”
The Academy took action
After finishing the Oscar Awards gala, the Academy issued a statement: “The Board has initiated disciplinary proceedings against Smith for violating the Academy’s Standards of Conduct, including inappropriate physical contact, abusive or threatening behavior, and a commitment to the integrity of the Academy.”
Will Smith gave explanations through their social networks: “Violence in all its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior last night at the Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are part of the job, but a joke about the medical condition from Jada was too much for me and I reacted emotionally”
Will Smith at the 2023 Oscars?
For more than thirty years, the winner of the Oscar for Best Leading Actor of the previous year has presented him with the award for Best Leading Actress of the current year. You have to remember that Will Smith was the winner in this category for his performance in the williams method.
This means that the actor should deliver the statuette at the Oscar Awards gala held on March 12, but this is not going to happen. The Hollywood Academy decided ban Smith until 2032. Although not only that, the actor also stated that he wanted to disassociate himself from this institution. However, he did not renounce the award. The big question now lies in who will be in charge or in charge of delivering this award next Sunday.
