The president of United States, Joe Bidenmade this Easter Sunday an appeal to have “faith, hope and love”, as well as to think of the poor and the persecuted.
“Today we celebrate the Easter message that nothing, not even death, can match the power of faith, hope and love,” Biden, the second Catholic US president after John F. Kennedy, said in a statement.
The president said that both he and first lady Jill Biden joined Catholics around the world in celebrating the Easter Sunday.
“We remember the sacrifice of Jesus and commit to love God with all our hearts, love our neighbors as ourselves and treat each other with compassion,” he explained.
Biden stressed that during Lent, and especially on Good Friday, Catholics hold in their hearts “those who suffer threats of violence and persecution, pain, isolation, disease and poverty, among other hardships.”
