Carlos Alcaraz defeated Jannik Sinner this Wednesday in the final of the Beijing tournament by 6-7(6), 6-4 and 7-6(3). The 21-year-old Spaniard ended up winning number one in a close fight that lasted 3h 21m and certified the first trophy of his career in the autumn period, the first also in Asia. There are now four this season, after those previously obtained in Indian Wells, Roland Garros and Wimbledon, and a total of 16 in its still brief tour of the elite.
“It was a very nice match, in which everything could have happened,” said the champion, who began the duel and finally knew how to recover against an opponent who began the final tiebreaker with a 3-0 in his favor. The Murcian, however, held on and gave an acceleration that led him to success. In this way, he already dominates 6-4 in his personal history with Sinner, who had eliminated him last year in this same scenario in the semifinals.
