If you are a former AT&T customer and got an unlimited data plan with them, you may be able to get a refund, but you must claim it todaysince eligible users have until May 18 to do so.
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) sued AT&T and the company agreed to reimburse affected customers $60 million, of which $52 million has already been paid. Now, the FTC is using the remaining settlement money to reimburse consumers who haven’t received a payment yet.
According to the FTC’s complaint, AT&T unfairly reduced data speeds for customers with unlimited data plans, a practice known as “data capping”. After customers used a certain amount of data in a bill cycle, they experienced data speeds so slow that they many common activities like web browsing and video streaming became difficult or impossible.
Customers who can make the claim must meet the following requirements:
· Be a former AT&T customer
· You had an unlimited data plan sometime between October 1, 2011 and June 30, 2015
· You experienced data throttling (slow data rates)
· Still you have not received a payment from AT&T about this issue
· Current AT&T customers are not eligible for a payment because they received a bill credit from AT&T in 2020. Also, previous customers who cashed an AT&T check are not eligible
To request a refund you can do it at www.ATTDataThrottling.com., but you must do it today, since it is established as deadline on May 18, 2023.
The FTC notes that the amount of payments depends on several factors, including the number of people filing claims. On the date on which those affected will be compensated, the institution urges those interested to be aware of their Web page.
