AS launches Deporte en Positivo, a project that seeks to praise the values ​​of sport | Sports

Diario AS announced this Tuesday the launch of Sport in Positive, an initiative that was born with the intention of “praising the values ​​of sport”, such as equity, inclusion or discipline. The project, which will be made up of different formats, will try to counteract “the tension and noise that are so present in sports news in recent times”, remembering the “great potential” that sport has as a “transforming element of society.” , according to the launch statement.

Promoted by the media’s management, Deporte en Positivo will serve as a speaker that highlights the news that the editorial team itself considers to be an example of talent and inclusion, “offering a speaker to diverse groups and demonstrating a commitment to gender equality.” , against racism and xenophobia.” Vicente Jiménez, director of AS, defines the initiative as “a contract with our audience to defend those values ​​that lead us to love sport.”

In this way, Diario AS takes a turn towards greater involvement in publicizing and giving a special distinction to those stories that exalt values ​​that the media had assimilated internally. “We want to record what until now was an internal attitude towards the treatment of sports information, taking it transversally towards a series of initiatives that will mark the desire for Deporte en Positivo to be a proactive attitude in our daily lives” , says Jiménez.

Among the formats that will be developed, “About Brais” stands out, a program that will be published weekly on ASTV, in which Brais Méndez, Real Sociedad player and reference in the fight to make mental health problems visible. , will talk with different elite athletes. In August, AS will also launch the Maillot Solidario, an initiative that rewards the most committed and supportive cyclist during La Vuelta 2024. In addition, at the AS Awards, which are held every year, an award will be given to “those entities, athletes or figures relevant that contribute to improving society through sport.”
