The Pumas de la UNAM achieved a valuable 3-1 victory against Atlético San Luis in Matchday 14 of the Clausura 2023 tournament of Liga MX, commitment that also represented the debut of Antonio “Turco” Mohamed as the new technical director of the university institution.
The triumph represented a breath of air for the feline institution. However, the new coach assured in a press conference that this victory is not a symbol of confidence and that there is still a lot of work to be done to maintain a competitive level that will take them out of the bottom positions of the table.
“Winning is the most important thing in this sport. The sensations are of happiness, but also that I have to work a lot, We have to improve in many aspects. The important thing was to change that negative inertia that was had and the team was able to change it, ”he said.
Likewise, the ‘Turk’ Mohamed maintained that the most important point in which they worked with their players was the psychological onebecause they were not going through the best mental state after four consecutive defeats and a drastic change of coach in the final part of the competition.
Finally, the technical director maintained that there will be no favoritism in his squad and that in each game “whoever is in better condition will play”, assuring that at this moment no hierarchy should be respected and the only important thing is to score points.
“I am not going to look at anyone’s name, but rather at performance and whoever I think is best will play. After this important victory, the Pumas de la UNAM climbed to 13th place in the classification table with a total of 14 points, leaving open the possibility of entering the playoffs if they add more victories in the last three days of the Clausura 2023 tournament of the MX League.
