The Anti-Violence Commission proposes the complete closure of the Metropolitan stadium for fifteen days due to the incidents during the Madrid derby on September 29. Furthermore, the report includes a fine of 65,000 euros for Atlético de Madrid, as reported by Cadena Ser and confirmed by El País. The Anti-Violence report includes throwing objects, one of which hit Thibaut Courtois in the leg, the presence of Nazi symbols, a field invasion and the seizure of a 22-centimetre knife. Atlético can appeal the sanction administratively. This penalty is in addition to the total closure of two matches that the Competition Committee had already imposed.
In addition, six fans have been identified, for whom, in addition to being prohibited from entering sports venues, they are fined up to 30,000 euros. The club continues with the identification of another 20 red-and-white fans to whom the same punishments would be applied as the others. The Anti-Violence proposal will be submitted to the Secretary of State for Security, which must approve it. Afterwards, the RFEF Competition Committee, which only established the temporary closure of the south end for three games, will apply the strongest sanction, which is the Anti-Violence sanction known this Tuesday.
Atlético de Madrid’s next games at the Metropolitano are this Sunday against Leganés and on Wednesday in the Champions League against Lille. Then they do not play again in their stadium until November 3 against Las Palmas.
