Amazon promises to hire 100,000 veterans and their spouses by 2024 | The USA Print

Amazon, which previously pledged to hire 25,000 military veterans and their spouses, has now pledged to increase that number to 100,000 by 2024.

With the promise that “all regular full-time employees start with a basic package that includes benefits and a starting wage of $15 per hour,” veteran job seekers have taken notice of the program. Hiring Our Heroes of the company, according to Connecting Vets.

The reason, according to Connecting Vets, is that Veterans and their spouses possess unique skills and training that Amazon finds valuable.

“Amazon focuses on recruiting and developing military talent with training programs designed specifically to help veterans transition into roles in the private sector,” said John Quintas, director of global military affairs at Amazon, according to the site.

“We value the unique skills and experience that the military community brings to the table, and our new hiring commitment will amplify the impact that military members today have across all of the company’s businesses.”

According to the website from Amazon, offer several programs to help the militaryranging from a 12- to 18-week paid apprenticeship program, as well as a corporate internship program.

Active duty military are eligible to participate in the scholarship program during the last 180 days of active dutywhile military spouses can participate remotely.

It is worth mentioning that the scholarship program has a job placement rate of 90 percent for participants.

“Amazon’s commitment to military veterans is far-reaching in the company and beyond employment,” according to the company.
