In this way, the Murcian, who in the first round had easily surpassed the Argentine Francisco Cerúndolo, will not be able to defend the title obtained last year and closed a sequence of 13 consecutive victories on grass. The defeat penalizes him in the ranking world championship – he falls from second to third place, with Novak Djokovic as the beneficiary – and precedes the landing at Wimbledon, where he will also try to defend the crown and will begin competing from July 1.
