Juan Rojas López, a 27-year-old man, died at the Bronx hospital where he was abandoned with stab wounds.

Rojas López was left badly injured at BronxCare Health System by someone who fled around 10:10 pm Sunday. The doctors could not save his life.

Police later determined that Rojas Lopez had been stabbed in the torso and left triceps on W. 174th St. between Grand Ave. and Macombs Road, Morris Heights neighborhood, about 10 minutes before he was dropped off at the hospital.

Rojas López lived in the Bronx about two miles from where he was stabbed and had no criminal record. It is not clear why he was stabbed, he said. Daily News.

Approximately three hours later, an unidentified 18-year-old presented to the same hospital with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Police do not believe the incidents are related, but said the shooting victim did not report where he was shot or why. He was reported a stable condition.

Young people are increasingly protagonists in gun violence in New York as victims and perpetrators, particularly shootings and attacks with white weapons.

Monday May 15 an 18-year-old boy was shot dead while fleeing a gang beating in a street of the bronx (NYC).

The pandemic, the anti-police climate and penal reform have been identified as factors that have triggered crime in the city. In September an NYPD report found that recidivism among teens had increased dramatically over the past five years and the number of gunmen and their underage victims had tripled.
