New York City FC announced on Tuesday that its iconic Argentine midfielder Maxi Moralez, will miss the remainder of the 2023 season after suffering one of the most serious injuries that exists in football: a torn anterior cruciate ligament in the right knee.
The New York group issued a statement in which it informed that Moralez will undergo surgery to repair the affected area in the coming weeks and later start the rehabilitation process that has an estimated recovery time of between six and eight months.

For his part, the sports director of the ‘Citizens’, David Lee regretted what will be a prolonged absence for the 36-year-old midfielder and wished him success in the surgical intervention to be held at the Montefiore Einstein Medical Center in New York over the next few weeks.
“On behalf of everyone at the club, I would like to wish Maxi all the best for the surgery. and their recovery,” said the manager.
He also acknowledged that Moralez has been a key factor in the team’s improvement since he returned a month ago after spending half a season at Racing de Avellaneda in his native Argentina.
“Maxi has had an immediate impact on the team since he returned, and we are deeply disappointed to lose a player of his caliber so late in the season while we fight to reach the playoffs,” he said.
“We all know what Maxi means to NYCFC and our fans, his presence will be missed both on and off the field. We will give Maxi all the support he needs during his recovery to help him return as quickly and safely as possible.”, Lee sentenced.
