Thomas Tuchel is the new coach of the English football team. The coach – who was without a team after leaving Bayern Munich last summer for not having won any titles during the season – signs with the English Federation (FA) until after the 2026 World Cup. The German coach will arrive on January 2025 to replace Lee Carsley, who took over the role temporarily following the departure of Gareth Southgate following this summer’s European Championship in which England reached the final with Spain.
Carsley will still lead the team in the next two Nations League games, against Greece and Ireland. Tuchel will be England’s third foreign coach, after Eriksson and Capello. The executive director of the FA has praised the new coach of the three lions. “We are delighted to have hired Thomas Tuchel, one of the best coaches in the world, and Anthony Barry (who will act as deputy) who is one of the best English coaches,” he said.
