The Mar d’Estiu festival, which will be held from August 3 to 18 and will feature twelve concerts by renowned artists, has found a new location after avoiding cancellation. The town councils of Santa Susanna and Pineda de Mar have reached an agreement with the company Paralelos Musicales to move the festival from Maresme to Torrentó de Can Gelat, the hotel zone of Santa Susanna, and leave behind its old location, La Llàntia (Mataró). The agreement has enabled the event to adapt to the noise levels foreseen by the Generalitat so as not to disturb the quality of life of the neighbourhood.
The agreement has avoided the possible cancellation of the festival due to negative reports from the Department of Territory of the Generalitat, which made it impossible to hold it in the place known as La Llanita, a maritime-terrestrial public domain space, which required the authorization of the Generalitat, which was denied. The land where Mar d’Estiu will be located forms a large esplanade located between the N-11 highway and the hotel zone of Santa Susanna.
The new space will also resolve the controversy over noise pollution in the Village area due to music playing until the early hours of the morning, as the atmosphere will end at midnight. In addition, with the aim of guaranteeing a better quality of life for the residents during the days when the festival is taking place, the stage will be located facing the sea, as reported by the organisers.
With its move, the Maresme show will be able to feature performances by artists such as Luz Casal, Sopa de Cabra, Los Secretos, Malú, Sergio Dalma, Juan Magán and Rozalén, among others, as well as a double concert by Mushkaa and The Tyets to close the festival.
